Project Anand is Tackling NCDs

Project Anand at Kaivalyadhama, Lonavala | Holistic Care Center for cancer patients and life-style conditions.About 70% of all global deaths are due to noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, heart-disease and diabetes. 40+ million people lose their life to non-communicable diseases every year, and 80% of these deaths occur in marginalised and low-middle income families. These deaths are preventable. Precious lives could be saved. At Kaivalyadhama, Lonavala, one of the oldest yoga therapy education, research and rehab institutions in India founded in 1924, we conduct evidence-based scientific research to prove the effectiveness of holistic care and yoga practices in dealing with non-communicable diseases. However, due to limited infrastructure and staff, we feel guilty for being unable to serve more than 75% of the people who reach out to us.Kaivalyadhama has been relentlessly working to provide holistic care and ethical yoga practices to curb non-communicable diseases, and there has been a huge increase in the demand of our services for tackling NCDs. Thus, we urgently need a Holistic Care Centre for serving cancer survivors and people affected by lifestyle conditions. The current 14-day residential program (SOHAM) is a precursor to Project Anand. It has a long waiting list (six months or more). The main purpose of building this program is to have a more focused and immersive approach towards facilitating people to empower them and to guide for a quality way of living. This program is open to all those who are seeking to find meaning in their lives, to mend their ways, to find solace in their loss, to derive positive energy, to live their life, to be fully human, fully alive. We are constructing Project Anand as a next step to SOHAM to help cancer patients and those affected by lifestyle conditions. This center will be located within our Lonavala campus to effectively serve those who are suffering. We envisage to provide accommodation, treatment and therapies as per the needs of cancer survivors and people affected by NCDs.Project Anand envisions incorporating various evidence-based holistic modalities including yoga therapy, Naturopathy, Ayurvedic nutrition, group-therapy and theoretical sessions in a serene, leisurely environment under the guidance of a well-trained, empathetic team of experts.
