Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Indiaspora has a commitment to fostering the qualities of entrepreneurship and innovation not only in our own workplace, but highlighting others of influence who have done or continue to do the same for their own companies or communities. Indiaspora is constantly engaged with industrialists, entrepreneurs, politicians alike to discuss opportunities for collaboration and cultivating ideas to help expand entrepreneurial and innovative ventures.
Meeting with Indian Minister Piyush Goyal
Indiaspora held an engaging 'not for attribution' lunch in the Bay Area with Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal. The dialogue between Minister Goyal and our members included trade, regulation, tech and diaspora issues.
Minister Goyal stated that he was impressed with the level of entrepreneurship and innovation in the Bay Area and delighted that many Indians managed to keep a part of Indian alive in their values while being so far from the country.
Meeting with the Tamil Nadu Minister for Department of Industries Mr. Thangam Thennarasu
A delegation, including Indiaspora, met with the Tamil Nadu Minister for Department of Industries Mr. Thangam Thennarasu, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. S. Krishnan and Ms. Pooja Kulkarni, MD of Guidance, to discuss the rising entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives across various sectors in Tamil Nadu. Many great conversations were had around how to continue expansion of businesses in the state and position Tamil Nadu as a leader of entrepreneurship and innovation in India.
Highlighting Entrepreneurs: Payal Kadakia | ClassPass
Indiaspora hosted a DiasporaNEXT event with Payal Kadakia, the Founder of ClassPass and author of LifePass: Drop Your Limits, Rise to Your Potential. In this virtual conversation, Payal discussed her new book and lessons learned from her journey founding ClassPass at the age of 30, which, prior to its acquisition by Mindbody, had been valued at over $1 billion.
Indiaspora Virtual Salon with Indra Nooyi
In January 2022, former Chairman and CEO of Pepsico Indra Nooyi joined our Indiaspora community for our Virtual Salon to discuss her new book, My Life in Full: Work, Family, and Our Future. There were great conversations about giving back as Indian Americans, creating social safety nets to help families, and particularly supporting women in corporate America and encouraging entrepreneurship with women-led businesses.

Indiaspora’s Delegation to Israel
In July 2017, Indiaspora’s “Global Connect” program took a delegation to Israel. The delegation attended Prime Minister Modi’s Community Address to the Indian Diaspora, hosted by Prime Minister Netanyahu. They also visited the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE), and had exclusive meetings with leadership of Startup Nation Central and the FLOOR start-up accelerators. They had several interactions with business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, philanthropists and politicians.
