Shruti Deorah is the Director of the newly established India Energy & Climate Center at the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley, and an Affiliate Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. She conducts research on policy & regulatory issues in decarbonization of power sector in India. Her focus areas include

regulatory aspects of grid integration of renewables, storage and its impact on

resource planning, and market design for the evolving sector. Additionally, she works on policy analysis concerning electrification of transport and industry sectors, including environmental health co benefits of clean energy transition.

Prior to this, Shruti worked as Advisor - Renewable Energy (RE) at Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), India’s apex power sector regulator. She has previously worked with the Observer Research Foundation and the Clinton Climate Initiative in India. She holds a B.Tech, M.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay, and spent a year as a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley.
