Ram is the Chair and Trustee of Dhanam Foundation (a family foundation). He, his family and the Foundation support academically motivated students in their access to education and career development. Their portfolio of grantees across India, US, and Africa include a variety of education and scholarship programs for low income, African American, Latino, women and first generation college students through Ashoka University, Magic Bus, SMASH Academy, Anita Borg Institute, Stockton Scholars, IIT Madras, USC, Stanford, Asian Art Museum, Exploratorium, and several others. Separately the Foundation also has a focus on research in Bio-engineering.
