Rao Munukutla
Chief Executive Officer, Bengaluru Airport City Limited
As the Chief Executive Officer, Rao Munukutla is entrusted with the responsibility of developing the Airport City for BIAL (a wholly owned subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited - BIAL).
In a career spanning over two and a half decades, Rao has handled leadership roles in the Infrastructure space and delivered various multi-billion-dollar projects in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Australia and Myanmar. These include massive Bintan Beach International Resort Project in Indonesia covering 230 sq. km., the 25000 acres MUSE SEZ Project in Myanmar and Springfield – a Greenfield City in Australia.
Rao Munukutla has played a significant role in bringing in Foreign Direct Investments into India, Indonesia and Myanmar. As a Singapore national, Rao is an avid advocate of India-Singapore relations. During his previous stint in India, Rao led the operations of Jurong International as CEO and has implemented massive projects such as ITPL & IT Corridor in Bangalore (these two projects resulted in IT revolution in the country), Sree City near Chennai, Mahindra World City and the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.
Rao holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand and an additional Master’s Degree in International Construction Management and Marketing from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is a recipient of the National Science & Technology Board and Guthrie Gold Medals in Singapore.
