Seemant Chaturvedi
Vice-Chair for Strategic Operations, University of Maryland School of Medicine
Seemant Chaturvedi, MD, is Vice-Chair for Strategic Operations in the Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He also serves as the Stewart J. Greenebaum Endowed Professor of Stroke Neurology and as Stroke Program Director at the University of Maryland Medical System. Dr. Chaturvedi received his undergraduate degree at Princeton University and medical degree from University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr. Chaturvedi completed his neurology residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and a stroke fellowship at the University of Western Ontario.
Dr. Chaturvedi has served as President of the Association of Indian Neurologists in America (AINA) and President of the Michigan Neurologic Association. He also is an international advisor for the Indian Stroke Association.
Dr. Chaturvedi has been interviewed by several media outlets regarding stroke prevention, including the New York Times. He has co-edited two books, Transient Ischemic Attacks (2004) and Carotid Artery Stenosis (2005). He has been involved with several guideline writing committees for the American Academy of Neurology and American Stroke Association and is on the steering committee of several clinical trials. Dr. Chaturvedi’s research interests include carotid and intracranial atherosclerosis, gender differences in stroke, and maintaining brain health.
